About Phineas
When I first heard that the character I was working on was named Phineas, I instantly thought “Phineas and Ferb?” LOL No, but seriously, I really did think this. Anyway, I digress. I really liked this Phineas’ character design, but I was a bit troubled with figuring out how I wanted to go about coloring him. The nice thing about commissions, is that a lot of the important decisions are taken out of your hands. This is actually a good thing at least for me. Less headache and a bit of a challenge. But, my problem was figuring out how to effectively create an interesting color pallet using nothing but blue. :/ Quite the conundrum.
So, I decided to go with adding hints of color here and there like a little green here, a splash of red there and splotches of purple here and there. So hah!! How’s that for rebellion! By using the colors in such a manor, it broke up the monotony of all of that 50 shades of blue that was going on. Thus, I feel that it really made the work a bit more interesting. I’m quite sure that you can find all of the hidden colors if you look closely enough but if not, here is a link to a detail shot of the illustration if you want to get a closer look.
