It’s that precious time of year again. It’s the beginning of October. The time where the leaves are turning into the beautiful colors of fall, the crispness of the air and the joy of bundling up in a warm blanket with a good book and a nice cup of chai.
Fall is my favorite time of year! And October is a great month for getting ready for all the costumes and candy of Halloween, but halloween is not the only thing that October is good for. In the artist community, October 1st is the call for INKtober!
What is INKtober?
INKtober is a drawing challenge to do an ink drawing every day for the month of October as motivator to improve one’s technique in the art of inking and encourage drawing habits.
Every time I think about INKtober, I always find myself saying INKtoberfest for some odd reason. It just has a nicer roll off of the tongue. Just the thought of taking out pens and breaking in a new or older (yet slightly dusty) pad to rise to the challenge is very rewarding.
I really wanted to participate in the inking movement in some kind of way, so I came up with this:
Beads and Ink is a one of a kind illustration that displays my passion for tiny detail work and patterns. Currently it’s complete and looking for a home. If you’re looking for an original piece to add to your collection, Beads and Ink is available for purchase in the shop.
I will definitely join in on creating new images for #INKtober when I am able. I have an image that I worked on and need to ink before I post it to the world. I’m absolutely looking forward to all the entries from all the artists throughout the world that will be participating this year. If you are joining in on the challenge this year, leave a comment with a link to your images below. I can’t wait to see what you guys have done so far.
